Dr. Ramsey Cheung received his M.D. degree from University of Chicago, Illinois. He completed his residency training in internal medicine at University of California, Irvine and gastroenterology fellowship at Stanford University. After completing his fellowship, Dr. Cheung joined the faculty at Stanford University in 1993, and rose to the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine. He also served as Chief of Gastroenterology at the Livermore Veterans Affairs Medical Center from 1993 to 1995. He is currently Chief of Hepatology at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System, the largest tertiary VA medical center in Northern California.
Dr. Cheung has been very active locally and nationally in improving care of veterans with chronic hepatitis C infection. His research interests focus on viral hepatitis and hepatitis viruses at both basic science and clinical levels.
