Tarek I. Hassanein, M.D. is the Chief of Clinical Hepatology and Director of the UCSD Liver Center at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center. He is the Medical Director of the UCSD Liver Transplantation Program and Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Hassanein received training at Alexandria University in Egypt, completed his residency at Wayne State University and his GI/Hepatology and Research fellowships at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Hassanein is an internationally renowned speaker on hepatitis C and liver disease
